HIDE AND SEEK

God plays hide and seek with us. His childlike heart smiles as he allows himself to be found. He doesn’t really hide himself from us fully because he’s always available to us but He gives Himself as an adventure of exploration that we might continually discover the joys of an eternal being of goodness, beauty and creativity. And so, he shows us this part and that part little by little revealing Himself to us. He is also the seeker. He delights in pursuing us and finding us. And in the end, He reveals ourselves to ourselves.
He puts himself in our lives in ways that we weren’t expecting. He is in the little things. In every blade of grass, bark on a tree, smile on a face we love, every celebration and every moment of grief and failure. He is in the quiet, still moments as well. The surprise is that we have missed God not because He is so far away but because we didn’t dare believe that He would be so close. I am often waiting for the ultra-holy, spiritual moment to reveal God, when He has been revealing Himself all along in the simple things, the everyday things, the things that are so close and intimate to me that only God could know this language.

God, teach me the language of my own heart. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear You. Give me a childlike heart, in that the child in me would recognize the child in You. I allow myself to be found and dive into the exploration of You with a whole heart.
